I’m Mandy Owens, Owner of Your Baby Consultant, LLC. I am often asked, “How did you come up with the idea for your business?” I developed a love for babies as a young child when my mother ran a daycare out of our home. I was always found holding the babies and knew that I wanted to pursue a career working with newborns. I graduated from UVA Nursing School with a Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing in 2001. 

In my 23 years as a Registered Nurse (RN), I have worked with pregnant teens, mother/baby couplets, high-risk maternity patients, newborns and parents in private homes, and taught many childbirth, breastfeeding, infant CPR, and newborn care classes in hospitals and privately. 

While working as a Mother/Baby RN at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, I found myself always wanting to give families more with regards to education, postpartum care and newborn care. I often had moms say to me, “I wish we could take you home with us” as I walked them to their cars upon discharge from the hospital.  I left hospital nursing in 2008 to spend time raising my two boys who are now 13 and 16. While working part-time in clinics and teaching, my wheels continued to turn on how I could help families privately transition into parenthood. 

In 2013, Annapolis Baby Consultant (ABC) was born. I worked independently for two years and in 2015, I needed a team to keep up with the demand of clients. Upon moving to Charleston in 2019, Charleston Baby Consultant (CBC) was born, which was a replica of ABC. After 7 successful months of business in the Lowcountry, I made the decision to merge ABC and CBC to form Your Baby Consultant (YBC). Services are the same in both Annapolis and Charleston.
